p b Where will I be staying /b /p Boasting a new look and name the Principal York - previously the Royal York Hotel- is every city slickers dream. It delivers warm cosy rooms and the sort of views that ll bowl you over. Expect a décor of soft carpets and soft greys luxurious velvet armchairs and more Chesterfield sofas than you can shake a stick at. The hotel is a moments walk from the train station which comes in handy when your time keeping is a Shambles. Pun intended. p b The room chronicles /b /p Each of the Principle York s individually designed guestrooms delivers character and charm in spades. Rooms are simply decorated but with enough detail to feel luxurious: soft minimal curtains velvet-covered armchairs Elemis toiletries and marble-clad bathrooms in most. Sink into your pillow soft mattress as you enjoy views across to York Minster and know you ve made the right hotel choice. p b This hotel s great because /p /b For a mere £30 a stay you can bring along your favourite furry four-legged friend. Dogs get their own beds and a box of treats with every room. Nifty. There s also a gorgeously airy Garden Room which is perfect for a spot of afternoon tea. p b Wining and dining /p /b The bar and restaurant are industrially chic with bare-brick walls exposed lightbulbs and cherry-red stools. Tuck into British classics like game and port pie or beef featherblade at The Refectory. If you really want to go all out then book in for afternoon tea in the Garden Room. Tuck into a full repertoire of scones tea sammies cakes and jam. Swap out the cuppa tea for champagne if you re feeling swanky. p b Exploring the neighbourhood /p /b Within 15 minutes of your train pulling in you can have dropped off your bags and be admiring the Minster with a hot cocoa in hand. The city s medieval walls and National Railway Museum are even closer less than a five-minute walk from the hotel. If you re heading to the airport your best bet is Leeds which is 30 miles away.

The Principal York is located adjacent to York Train Station. 20 minutes from the M1 and M18. Leeds Bradford International Airport is approximately 25 miles north following the A64.
